Haiku my heart: maya

crooning so loudly
meow meow meow me
and no one can sleep

My cat, Maya, loves to hear herself talk.  She meows constantly.  When we got her, they said, "She is very talkative."  I remember at the time thinking that was a good thing.  Now I know it was a euphemism for crying at all hours of the day and night.  She especially loves to cry on those nights that I have difficulty getting the children to sleep.   She has some other annoying habits too.  She eats anything - plastic bags, Barbie's hands, my leather boots, her own fur.  We tried giving her anti-anxiety medications, but that was not very easy- and super expensive.  We have two cats.  Zinn the cat is more mellow.  The strong quiet type.

Maya really is more my husband's cat.  Animal lovers, please don't hate me, but Maya is a difficult cat to love.  She is part of our family, and so I try to get along with her as best I can... but sometimes I do daydream about finding her a new home.   I work all day with behaviorally disturbed children- who wants to come home to a behaviorally disturbed cat?  She is a very beautiful cat though....  talkative and a little disturbed, but beautiful.

LOL!! Feel sorry for the predicament that you are in, but she may be super intelligent and trying to tell you how her day has been!! She may be even trying to say-- why don't you love me anymore??

Maya Papaya! First, I hope you are doing better than last time I was here. I'm sure i sent positive energy in your direction and i hope it is helping.
Our cat isn't talkative where it is constant, but if it wants something, food, attention or to be let in or our of the house, it has a whine, more than a meow, and I can't stand it.
But he sleeps next to me, after I have fallen asleep, he creeps into the bed, between me and my wife, and curls up next to my lower back, pressing his back next to mine. I think it's good to keep my kidneys warm on these cold Winter nights here in the Northland.

Good luck Caya. I hope you get through your life with Maya Papaya.

Peace.

With a kitty named Maya Papaya, who needs to sleep? :-)

Or maybe you could interpret her yowling and howling as a lullaby?

thank you for making your way here to us all. i do hope you are feeling better.
so glad you do not have "music" enabled on your blog with maya's voice!
i did in fact laugh when reading your post.

although in this very moment my cat has firmly let me know he would appreciate a kitty treat RIGHT NOW please.

here's to a quieter night for you and waking up in a renewed body.
you are always in my heart!!!

What a beautiful picture!
I think all of that annoying talking is a girl-cat thing...Our Mini was just like Maya and Bear is a much more lovable cat.

I hope you and Maya find a way to communicate with each other for a solution. Just like it is pretty impossible to love all people equally, it is pretty impossible to love all animals (especially whiny ones) ! Wishing you both some peace.
Happy Friday !

as a kittykat person i had to really laugh.... so sorry...but cats just crack me up!!! not so much late at night when they're busy terrorizing my sleep.... never, never heard of a cat chewing like that, my heart goes out to you... i have a cat i've had for over 10 years and every year he gets crazier and crazier... sometimes in the moment i cannot help but pick him up and hug him just for hanging in there...

She truly is a most gorgeous cat. Sorry she is a difficult one. I owned a cat once who pretty much loved me but no one else. When he first met my hubby - he hissed at him! He fell in love when my hubby gave him some canned tuna! Have a wonderful weekend! Theresa

Oh, kitties can be very difficult sometimes. We love them but their behavior is hard to understand. I have a five month old kitten and he is just now finally learning "sleep etiquette" so that we sleep through the night together. I think Maya is lovely too. I know that there are some books out on animal behavior. It could be that she isn't well. That is a possibility. Anyway, wishing you the best my dear.

Thanks for all of your comments about my silly cat:-) We have taken her to the vet many times- they just say she is a bit neurotic.
The picture is a photograph that I used photoshop on. I love photoshop.

Does attention help?

Ironically, we had a cat named Maia who was by far THE most vocal cat we've ever had. I can completely appreciate your feelings. Lovely picture.

Wishing you and Maya peace!

I can so relate, although my cat now sleeps quite a lot, giving me reprieve! Gotta love 'em!
