Haiku my heart - Jelly fish

pulsing hypnotic
orange contrasts against blue
tentacles aglow
I can't believe I haven't written in such a long time again!  I have been working hard to give myself permission to just "do my best"- which feels awfully inadequate these days.  As many of you know, I work a regular full time job as a therapist, am raising two small children, teach, and try to make and sell artwork in order to keep my creative life vibrant.  The last two weeks have been teaching weekends- which means my weekends are full of teaching 8 hour day classes.  So, of course my poor little blog (and artistic endeavors) have suffered.

To celebrate the completion of the class, we took the family to Monterey Bay Aquarium. .  It was my son's first time.  I so love it there and wanted to spend my time pointing out all of my favorite fish to my little ones.  Unfortunately,I spent most of the trip chasing my daughter.  After much exasperation, I grabbed her in front of this jelly fish tank and told her that if she were to run away one more time, we would leave the aquarium immediately.  I explained how frightened I become when she is out of my sight.  She looked in my eyes as she tried to wiggle out of my grasp. I hardly got to look at the jellyfish... or the beautiful sea horses that I had been excited all week about seeing.  Oh well.  Maybe next time...

I did want to share one of my daughter's new drawings of a water fairy!  I just think it is beautiful.  She totally captured a curtsy.  These are the images that now fill my psyche with joy.
Although it would still be nice to enjoy the occasional jellyfish or seahorse.

Wonderful haiku. I wish we could return one day to Monterey. We were stationed at Ft Ord, oh so many years ago. It is on of the most beautiful places on earth! Wishing you well! Cathy

Hi Caya. Your jelly fish look as if they are moving. Great painting. Your daughter looks very happy and how fun, the Montrey Bay Aquarium. We haven't been over there in such a long time. Perhaps one day soon. Nice to see you, thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend.

I see you have a budding artist there. Lovely haiku. You have much on your plate - try and do what is best for you. There is beauty in even the smallest things... Theresa

I adore Monterey Bay Aquarium, but I have to say that most of my memories of it are of the times that I spent there with my mom who was disabled at the time. I took her there and although she could walk, she found it easier to be in a chair. I would take her over to see the jellyfish and the seahorses etc. She loved it. It is strange how we recall most the people we love rather than the places we have been with them. I think that you will feel the same remembering your daughter at the aquarium once she is older. You probably already do I dare say. I love her picture. The curtsy is magnificent. She is simply amazing. So glad to see you here.
xoxo,
Noelle

Wow! That IS a real curtsy! Amazing! And what a cutie when you managed to get her photo!
I love the "psychedelic" feel to the jellyfish and haiku! So vivid! Our east coast jellyfish are clear and stingers! I would definitely trade our coast for Monterey Bay! xxox

I totally misunderstood your haiku at first, but when I reread it I realized that the word was tentacles. The curtsying water fairy is amazing.

Have a good day, Boonie
