when she is looking
precocious discovery
creating herself
My little one is theatrical by nature. She loves to look at herself in the mirror and practice her emotional faces and the conversations that she might have with others. She began preschool last week. It was a new school, new children, new teachers, and I was full of anxiety for her. I was always a shy little wallflower. My daughter is so much like me in many ways- but with a confidence that I don't think I ever had. She ran into the school and immediately began making friends. The teachers all remarked on her wonderful social skills - where I continue to feel awkward in a room full of strangers. Where did she learn this? Is it all that practicing in the mirror? Next time I am feeling social anxiety, I think I will try to conjure up my inner Caya Papaya and see what happens:-)

So how cute?!?! And yes, you're right--we can all learn from our children!!
Hiya Caya,
What a heartwarming story. Skill is the operative word. It needs to be practised. Your daughter seems to have known that from the word go. I wish I had the gift.
Fantastic photo! My Grandchildren live with me, I see thewir faces all the time and never tire of them. I really like the facial artwork, did you do that? Wonderful!
Peace.
Love this photo! She is quite adorable! Nice post!
hold on to your heart!!
this one is going to take you on a wild ride far beyond the edges of your personal realm.
it will be wild...
and oh so exquisitely sweet!
thanks for being here....
Because my three children were each so different from birth, I think that some of those gifts are inborn. Some are shy & reticent, needing to learn the lay of the land before they join in group dynamics. Others are born social directors. We can push ourselves in the other direction, but there is a natural proclivity towards one direction or the other.
So cute! and a lovely photo to go with the words.
She gets her creativity from YOU, I'm sure. :) Beautiful haiku and photo to go with it.
What a cutie pie! Love the haiku...
Good for her! I agree with Rebecca - fasten your seatbelt and love the ride. :) What a sweet and special gift.

She is super super AWESOME! She's totally my hero! When I grow up I wanna be like her. I so adore that picture. Your words capture the moment perfectly.
I wanted to share my gratitude for your words on my post. Someone was messing with me, but I'm so glad that I have learned to turn situations like that into something inspirational for myself and for others. Your words helped to make me stronger in my resolve to not allow them to mess me up! YAY US!

This all came from you! I could have written this 11 or 12 years ago...everytime my Mia gets on stage...I am the one with my heart in my throat...I am nervous, and scared...and she SHINES! Then I am stuck with everyone else, waiting for her. Small talk. Who named it that? It is a BIG undertaking!
Aren't you learning as much as you are teaching being a mom? It is great, right? It keeps getting more great, too.
Much love, understanding and EXCITment to you...
What a cutie pie! She is naturally inquisitive, which is a great thing. And how wonderful she is making fast friends. You are doing a wonderful job with her. :) Theresa
